About

We are playmakers.

That Playful Life is an artist-founded design studio for playful living. We are family-owned and located in Austin, Texas.

Chief Artist: Megan Wiggins

Hi! I’m thrilled you’re here. That Playful Life gives me a creative container to bring my artistic impulses into form and build things that provoke daily childlike wonder, for our own family and others. After 20 years building a career in experience design, organizational behavior change, and creative facilitation, motherhood and the sudden passing of my dad led to a significant mid-life awakening. The perspective reset instilled a knowing that living playfully at every age is one of the best-kept secrets to a fulfilling life. So, why not start a studio as an excuse to play with my kids more and make more art!

Made with family.

My mom, daughters, and husband bring their own ideas and hands to the studio. Their contributions make That Playful Life a place of multi-generational creativity!

Our Ethos

What PLAYFUL means to us

Our "PLAYFUL" ethos captures the spirit, character, and values we aim to weave into everything we make at That Playful Life Studios.

Presence“Be here, now—because life’s most magical moments are happening in this one.”

Play draws us into the present, where distractions fade, and we connect deeply with ourselves and those around us. Whether it’s the laughter of a game or the focus of building something together, being fully present helps us savor life’s beauty, big or small.

Learning“Stay curious and keep growing—because play teaches us to try, fail, adapt, and begin again.”

Play is the ultimate teacher. It fuels curiosity, encourages exploration, and builds resilience. Through trial, error, and imagination, we learn that mistakes are not the end but stepping stones to growth. Play creates a safe space for discovery, where we embrace challenges and celebrate progress.

Adventure“Say yes to the unknown—because every path, no matter how twisty, leads to new stories.”

Living playfully means welcoming spontaneity and stepping into the unknown with courage. Whether embarking on a real journey or a fantastical one in our minds, adventure is how we grow and see the world with fresh eyes.

Youth“Keep your wonder alive—because play isn’t about age, it’s about attitude.”

Playfulness transcends age. It’s a mindset of wonder, joy, and possibility that keeps life vibrant and full of magic. Whether we’re 5 or 95, holding onto a youthful spirit reminds us to find joy in the small things, laugh often, and see the world as an endless playground.

Freedom“Express yourself boldly—because play sets you free to paint, build, move, and speak without judgment.”

Play gives us space to express ourselves—whether creatively, physically, or emotionally—without fear of judgment. It helps us share who we are, what we feel, and how we see the world. Through art, movement, words, and dreams, play sets imagination free and unlocks our truest selves.

Unity“Come together—because shared joy builds stronger families, friendships, and communities.”

Play is a bridge that brings people together. In many ways, it is a universal language. It breaks down barriers, fosters collaboration, and deepens relationships. When we play, we build bonds rooted in laughter, trust, and shared experiences that last a lifetime.

Love“Live with heart—because at its core, play is an act of love.”

To play, we must show up, be present, and open up with the people who matter most. It teaches us to see and care for others, be vulnerable, and to love the process of life itself. Through playful moments, we create traditions, memories, and love that endures.

Our Story

My husband, Kyle, and I are constantly inspired by our two daughters, reminding us daily to laugh and not take ourselves too seriously.

Early on in childhood, I identified as an artist. From fort building and collaging to drawing and painting, I was always "making".

As I grew up, I directed my creativity to helping businesses of all shapes and sizes navigate complex change and build high-performance cultures.

I met Kyle while living abroad in Chile. We both wanted to bring home the diverse aesthetics and colorful ways of living we experienced while traveling the world.

When we were expecting our first child, I started making family-oriented sensory art. It began with a massive gallery wall of our family's guiding principles, and then an immersive four wall mural in the nursery.

The expansiveness of unconditional love for my kids and re-learning to look at life through their eyes, unlocked a whole new category of artistic impulses.

All my free time goes into turning our house into a coloring book, and turning every space our girls interact with into a magical immersive art adventure.

In 2024, my father passed away suddenly. For years, he had been encouraging me to pursue my art as a possible career pivot.

After exploring many soul-gripping existential questions, Kyle and I deepened our commitment to an artistic and relationship-centric life.

I started That Playful Life to scale my ability to make art that helps our family and others live with more intention, presence, creativity, joy, and connection.

Thank you for being here! I hope to find, support, and connect with as many other 'playmakers' out there. If that's you, please reach out!
